What is Proficiency Testing (PT) & why it is important?
Proficiency testing (PT) is a way to review a testing laboratory performance and hence to identify the improvement needed in a laboratory. Therefore to self-assure quality assurance by a laboratory, regular participation in PT program is not only very important but accreditation body as well as ISO/IEC 17025:2017 mandated this requirement. It is also the utmost important aspect that a laboratory anticipates in regular PT programs & performs satisfactorily to sustain their laboratory business and to present their performance where necessary. Under a condition, where any laboratory observes poor/questionable performance in the PT round, the reason should be investigated immediately and to make necessary adjustment accordingly. The regular participation over several rounds of PT programs is a way to identify a trend of any laboratory’s testing performance. While conducting a PT program, a PT provider also requires to maintain absolute privacy & integrity for each participating laboratory as specified in ISO/IEC 17043.

CERTIFIED REFERENCE MATERIAL (CRM)
Certified reference materials (CRMs) are ‘controls’ or standards used to check the quality and metrological traceability of products, to validate analytical measurement methods, or for the calibration of instruments. A CRM is a particular form of measurement standard that has a unique assigned value (measured value) along with uncertainty value associated with measured value.
REFERENCE MATERIAL (RM)
Whilst Certified Reference Materials are preferred where available their availability is limited. Reference Material (RM) that do not meet all the criteria for certified reference materials are more widely available.
PT items (surplus) materials of already published PT schemes is a good choice to use as a quality control material by a laboratory or for individual personal for specific purpose as per need. Such material is very useful for internal QC check, troubleshooting / root-cause identification & to re-check poor performance in the PT, training of new staff, method development or generating QC charts.
We provide such quality control material to the interested buyers along with a reference value with uncertainty as a non-metrological traceable item.
